Biography

Lorenz Schindelholz had an incredibly successful career in international bobsledding in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He won back-to-back World Championships in the four-man event in 1989 and 1990, alongside Bruno Gerber, Curdin Morell, and Gustav Weder. At the 1991 edition, the quartet slipped to second place, behind their traditional rivals, the Germans. These four were also third and first in the four-man at the 1990 and 1991 European Championships respectively. Schindelholz’s final major international success came at the 1992 Winter Olympics, where Gerber was replaced on the team by Donat Acklin. This new quartet was taken off guard by a surprising Austrian victory and finished third in the four-man. Schindelholz retired from active competition shortly after the Olympics.
