Biography

Andreas Schwab was an Austrian bobsledder who participated in the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. He placed sixth with the four-men Austria II bob, after he replaced the injured Heinz Krenn following the first run. With Fritz Sperling he finished an unfortunate fourth in the two-men bob, despite being in the lead after the second run.

Schwab started his sports career as a weightlifter before he turned to bobsledding. He later became a prominent sports administrator, leading Austrian Sporthilfe as CEO (1993-97), becoming CEO of Planai Mountain Cableways (1997-2003), and Hauskaibling Mountain Cableways (1997-2006), sports director of the Austrian Golf Association (2007-08), and CEO of the Austrian Anti-Doping Agency (2008-12). His sons Matthias and Johannes became golfers who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics, respectively.
