Biography

Pete Sears was a goaltender from Lake Placid who played his college hockey, and also baseball, at Oswego State. He served in Vietnam from 1967-69 during his college years. Sears played three years of minor league hockey, with the Green Bay Bobcats of the US Hockey League in 1967-68, the Suncoast Suns (St. Petersburg) of the Southern Hockey League in 1973-74, and the Columbus Owls of the International Hockey League in 1973-74. He returned to Oswego in 1975 and taught history and coached hockey for 30 years. He has been named to the New York State High School Hockey Hall of Fame, the Oswego State University Hall of Fame, the Oswego State University Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Oswego City Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. The 1972 Olympics were his only international exposure.
