John Summers was an ice dancer who competed with Stacey Smith. After finishing fourth at the 1977 US Championships, they won the title for three consecutive years, from 1978-80. At the World Championships, Smith and Summers placed ninth in 1978-79 and eighth in 1980. After the 1980 World Championships, they turned professional and won the 1981 World Professional Ice Dance Championship, and they skated together professionally for over a decade.
