Biography

Whitewater canoeist Martina Falke finished tenth in the K-1 at the 1972 München Olympics, where canoe slalom events were held on the canoe slalom course of Augsburg for the first time (and for the last time until 1992). In 1973 she won two bronze medals at the World Championships in the individual K-1 event and with the East German K-1 team. In 1979 she won her only individual East German title, and in 1972 and 1973 she claimed the team titles with SC DHfK Leipzig. She was later inducted into the German Canoe Slalom Hall of Fame.
