Biography

Bernd Duvigneau won five gold medals at the Flatwater World Championships with the East German K-4. He won over 500 metres (1978-79) and 1000 metres (1974, 1978-79). With the K-4 1,000, he also won the bronze medal at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, and a gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Games, which were boycotted by the Western countries. Duvigneau later became a sports administrator with the Sachsen-Anhalt Canoe Federation, and was also an international referee.
