Biography

East German flatwater canoeist Harry Nolte finished fifth in the K2-1,000 metres with Peter Hempel at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. In the K1-1,000 he earned a bronze medal at the 1986 Montréal Flatwater Canoe Worlds. Domestically, he won 14 medals in all events.

Nolte became a graduate engineer at the film school at Babelsberg and was specialized in computer-aided video production. He then became a scientific employee at the Regional Olympic Center at Potsdam. His wife Elke Preuss and his son Falko were also nationally successful canoeists.
