Biography

East German bobsledder Ingo Voge was, like many other bobsledders, a track sprinter, before he turned to bobs. In 1979, his personal best over 100 m was 10.4. He then won two silver medals at the 1984 and the 1988 Olympic Games in the four-man event, 1984 in the bob of Bernhard Lehmann, and 1988 in Wolfgang Hoppe’s sled. In the four-man event Voge added at the World Championships one gold (1985), and one bronze medal (1989), while at the European Championships he won another three silver medals (1983, 1985 and 1986). He was married to former cross-country skier Petra Voge, but they later divorced.
