Biography

Erich Weißhaupt is a former ice hockey goalie who played from 1970-87 for ESV Kaufbeuren, Berliner SC, Mannheimer ERC, and Düsseldorfer EG, playing in 606 Bundesliga matches. He was the German national goalie from 1975-86, earning 107 international caps and was later inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. With Berliner SC Weißhaupt became German Champion in 1976 and won a bronze medal at the Innsbruck Olympics in the same year. In 1979 he was elected Bundesliga Player of the Year and in 1980 won his second German Championship with Mannheimer ERC. He later made his living as a dental technician.
