Biography

Canoe slalom events – held on the Augsburg course– appeared at the Olympics for the first time in 1972 (and for the last time until 1992). West German Hans Jakob Hitz partnered with Theo Nüsing in the Canadian doubles and finished disappointing ninth. One year earlier both were among the C-2 team members winning the silver medal at the World Championships. Nüsing later was employed by the chemical company Bayer in Dormagen. He also was active as a youth coach in his home club WSC Dormagen.
