Biography

A soldier by profession, Paul Attwood began competing in bobsleigh whilst serving as an officer in the Royal Marines during the mid nineties. When Britain’s top bobsleigh pilot, Mark Tout, tested positive for an anabolic steroid in 1996 Attwood was brought in as a part of a reconstituted GB1 crew behind Sean Olsson. Performances steadily improved and the team placed 4th at the 1997 World Championships and won medals on the world cup circuit. At Nagano they dead-heated with the French team for the bronze medal to win the first British 4-man medal in 62 years. Attwood continued competing until the 2002 Games but without the same level of success.
