The city of Ambrakia lies in northwestern Greece, close to the Ambarcian Gulf in the region of Epirus. Now replaced by the town of Arta, Ambrakia was home to at least three ancient Olympic champions. Of these, Tlasimakhos won three titles, sweeping the equestrian events at the 121th Olympics.
