The Olympic Programme Commission reviews and analyzes the Olympic Program, reviewing sports, disciplines, and events for each sport at the Games of the Olympiad and the Olympic Winter Games. It also develops recommendations on the principles and structure of the Olympic Program, most recently published in the form of 33 criteria in 2004. These criteria are grouped in seven areas: history and tradition, universality, popularity, image and environment, athlete health, International Federation (IF) development and costs. The commission makes recommendations to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board and presents reports to the IOC Session. The commission is composed of IOC Members and representatives from the National Olympic Committees and the International Federations. The current chairman is Franco Carraro (ITA).
