Architecture at the 1936 Summer Olympics

Dates 1 – 16 August 1936
Medal Events 3
Venues Ausstellungsgelände Halle VI, Kaiserdamm, Berlin

As in 1928 and 1932 there were two architectural events in the 1936 Arts Competition – Designs for Town Planning and Architectural Designs. There were 87 participants from 14 nations who submitted designs, although submission was by 58 architects, working groups or architectural firms. The exhibits for Town Planning and Architectural Designs were identical but were assessed separately for both categories. Nazi cultural officer Oswald Bieber (1874/1876-1955) and the future Minister of Armaments and War Production, Albert Speer (1905-81), were supposed to be members of the jury, according to the exhibition catalog, but were not listed in the final 1936 Official Report.
