Most of the 1992 equestrian events took place at the Real Club de Polo Barcelona, with the eventing dressage and endurance phases held elsewhere, at the Club Hípico El Montanyà, Montanyà, although it had originally been scheduled for Parc del Remolar in downtown Barcelona. The Real Club de Polo Barcelona was founded in 1897 and had facilities for polo, hockey (field), tennis, squash, and swimming. Club Hípico El Montanyà was a horse club that had been built in 1991 over a defunct golf course.
Team and individual eventing were contested at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, with both events held concurrently. Matt Ryan won the individual title and led Australia to the team gold medal.
