The format of the Nordic combined was changed. Previously the event consisted of combining the results from the large hill ski jumping and the 18 km cross-country event. In Oslo the Nordic combined started with ski jumping, which was held as a separate competition. It ended the next day, using the results from the open 18 km cross-country, with the start and finish in the Olympic Ski-Stadion.
