Canoe Sprint at the 1924 Summer Olympics

Dates 13 – 15 July 1924
Non-medal Events 6

Canoeing first appeared as a medal sport on the Olympic Program in 1936 and has been contested continuously since at the Olympics. It was demonstrated once at the Olympics, at Paris in 1924. This was really the first international competition in canoeing, as European Championships were first held in 1933 and World Championships first contested in 1938. The 1924 canoeing events were held at the Bassin d’Argenteuil in Paris, which also hosted the rowing events in 1924. There were six events, three for kayak, and three for Canadian canoes. All of the entrants were from either the United States or Canada.
