A football tournament for men was held from 25 May to 9 June 1924, and this was the most international of any football competition yet held. A single-elimination tournament was held, with 22 teams starting, and Portugal withdrawing. Uruguay defeated Switzerland easily in the final match, 3-0, and the Uruguayans would return to defend their title in 1928. The 1924 matches were held at four venues around Paris – Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées, Paris; Stade Bergeyre, Paris; Stade de Paris, Saint-Ouen; and Stade Pershing, Vincennes.
