FormatSingle-elimination tournament.

The Doherty brothers played together in the men’s doubles, which eliminated all suspense as to the winner of that tournament. In both the semi-finals and final, they and their opponents decided to play best of five sets in order to make the match as interesting as possible for the spectators. It was hardly so, as The Field noted that the Dohertys “might have beaten all their opponents without the loss of a single game had they so chosen.” The Dohertys arrived in Paris having won the Wimbledon title the previous week with a five set victory over Roper Barrett and Harold Nisbet.
