Description

Water skiing was a demonstration sport at the 1972 Olympics. The sport is governed by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF), which was formed in 1955 and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As of 2022, the federation has 101 affiliated member nations. It was thought that water skiing might possibly be added to the Olympic Program for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athina, but that was voted down by the Executive Board in December 2000.
