Biography

Dutch football defender Toine van der Hurk spent most of his domestic career playing for VVV-Venlo. After starting out with FC Eindhoven Van der Hurk joined VVV in 1954 where he scored the team’s first professional league goal in a match against Ajax. He played in 248 matches for VVV from 1954 to 1962, winning the KNVB Cup with the team in the 1958–59 season. In 1962 he was sold to Sittardia but only played one season for them before joining SV Panningen. Van Der Hurk then returned to VVV for the 1964–65 season, playing in a further 21 matches for the club.

Between 1950 and 1951 Van Der Hurk played in 13 matches for the Netherlands national under-19 team. He was also selected to represent the Dutch team in the football tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics but did not play in any matches.
