Biography

Frits Louer earned three caps - all friendlies - with the Dutch national football team between 1952 and 1954, scoring one goal against Sweden. He was also selected for the squad that attended the 1952 Helsinki Olympics but, as the Netherlands was eliminated by Brazil in the qualifying round, he did not see any playing time at the Games. He had a much more extensive domestic career, playing with TSV NOAD from 1948 through 1961, including four seasons in the highest Dutch division. For the 1961/1962 season Louer switched to another Tilburg side, Willem II, where he would play until his retirement in 1964. In 1963 his team won the KNVB Cup, with Louer netting the opening goal in the final. Despite being relegated during the normal season, the cup victory earned Willem II their first appearance in European competition. In the Cup Winner’s Cup, they were eliminated in the first round by Manchester United, despite Louer scoring once in each leg.
