Jack Dunn took up football (soccer) in his youth and was a member of his high school team in Philadelphia. He had his best years, however, as a student at Temple University, where he was an All-American in 1952 and 1954 and twice took the national collegiate title. During his time there, he was selected to represent the United States in the tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, but as his country was eliminated by Italy in the qualifying round, he did not see any playing time. After his 1955 graduation, he won the National Amateur Cup with the Philadelphia United German-Hungarians in 1965 and also spent some time in the American Soccer League. He also coached, spending nearly two decades with Saint Joseph’s College (now Saint Joseph’s University). By career, he served in the United States Army and then worked for Gulf Oil. He was inducted into the Temple University Hall of Fame in 1975.
