Biography

Trevor Hedberg was a crew member aboard Francis Richards’s Brat at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. The sailing events took place at Oostende (Ostend), and the pair competed in the 18-foot Open class. It remains unclear whether they actually finished the course and were ever awarded medals.

Hedberg was a native of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia where his father Olaf was also an avid yachtsman and one of his uncles was the superintendent of the Tasmania Gaol. An electrical engineer by profession, Hedberg received a diploma from the Electrical Engineering School in Melbourne in 1906. Specializing in theater and cinema-related projection work, in 1911, he was the manager of the Cinema Electrical Installation Company in London, and in the 1930s was the chief engineer of Hoyts Theatres Ltd. in Melbourne.
