Biography

Carlos Wöbcken was third in the decathlon at the 1931 South American Championship. His 1932 Olympic participation is not listed in the Official Report of that year but newspaper reports (Los Angeles Times) describe him starting the decathlon only to pull up and withdraw with a hamstring pull in the opening 100 metres, although other reports (Lawrence Daily Journal) note he was injured warming up and did not start. His best events were the high jump and discus throw. Wöbcken’s younger brother Adolfo was a pole vaulter. They may have had dual German citizenship.
