Alexander Kosenkow

Born in Tokmuk, Kyrgystan, Alexander Kosenkow emigrated to Germany in 1991 with his mother and was naturalised immediately. He represented Germany at three editions of the Olympics from Athens 2004 to London 2012. With the German 4x100 metres relay squad he was eliminated in the heats in 2004 and 2012 and placed an unfortunate fourth in 2008. Over 100 metres he reached the second round in 2004.

With the sprint relays, Kosenkow won two silver (2012, 2014) and two bronze medals (2002, 2010) at European Championships. With a fourth place in 2015 he had his best result with the relay at the Worlds.

Kosenkow won German national titles over 100 metres in 2003, 2007, 2010, over 200 metres in 2001, and indoor titles over 200 metres in 2007, 2009-10. He was selected for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games as a reserve for the relay but did not compete.

In 2019 Kosenkow became a guide for the visually impaired sprinter Marcel Böttger. At the 2019 World Championships they finished seventh in the 100 metres and at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, the pair competed in the 100 metres in the T12 category.
