Ronny Ostwald

Ronny Ostwald was a German sprinter at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He was a member of the 4x100 metres relay which was eliminated in the heats. At the 2008 Beijing Games, Ostwald was a reserve for the relay team but did not start. He won a relay bronze medal at the 2002 European Championships after a positive drugs test on Britain’s Dwain Chambers resulted in the GB squad retrospectively being disqualified in 2006, and Germany promoted to third place.

Ostwald won the German 100 metres titles in 2004 and 2006 and the 100 indoor title in the latter of those two years. In 2009 he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture and retired. Professionally, he worked as a policeman with the German Federal Police.
