Biography

Nikolay Gorbachov won a gold medal in kayak doubles at the 1972 München Olympics, alongside Vikt’or K’rat’asiuk’i. Gorbachov also won gold at the 1974 World Flatwater Championships in the K4 event over 10,000 metres. He added two bronze medals at the Worlds in the same event, in 1971 and 1975. Gorbachov returned to his hometown of Rogachev and became a kayaking coach, opening a school for canoe and kayak training. Gorbachov was awarded the Soviet Merited Master of Sport.
