Biography

Linda Murray-Dragan raced kayak doubles at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics, as Linda Murray in 1972, with Nancy Purvis, and as Linda Dragan in 1976, with Ann Turner. Murray-Dragan was a versatile athlete, winning the 1968 Tri-State Championship in trampoline, and in 1963 was Tri-State age-group champion in the backstroke, as an 11-year-old.

Murray-Dragan was US Champion in K-1 in 1973-75. In canoeing she was K-1 champion in 1974-75 and 1979. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1976, later earning a masters’ degree from Maryland in 1981, and worked for a time as an instructor at Trinity College.
