Bridget Parker went to the München Olympics as a traveling reserve and was only called into the three-day event team at the last moment after Debbie West’s horse went lame. She placed 10th individually and was the third scoring member of the winning British team. Educated at St. Mary’s Convent, Ascot, in 1959 married an Army officer whose overseas postings often interrupted her equestrian career. In 1968 her husband left the Army to settle in Somerset and Bridget Parker was able to resume regular competition.
