Biography

Adriano Rodoni was an Italian sports manager. In his youth, after débuting in swimming with Rari Nantes Milano, he founded the Società ciclistica Genova in 1913, of which he was president until 1941. He owned a pharmaceutical company and managed some cyclists in the 1930s, among them the superstar Alfredo Binda.

Rodoni coached the national amateur team in 1939, and then during World War II, from 1940-43, he was President of the U.V.I. (Unione Velocipedistica Italiana). He was again President from 1946-81 when the U.V.I. became the F.C.I. (Federazione Ciclistica Italiana). He led the sport in Italy during many years with dominant cyclists, including Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, Fiorenzo Magni and Antonio Maspes, Ercole Baldini and Felice Gimondi, and later Francesco Moser and Giuseppe Saronni. From 1958-81 Rodoni was President of the U.C.I. (Union Cycliste Internationale), and he was vice-president of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) in 1948-55 and 1960-63.
