As a pioneer of sports broadcasting Barry Frank spent more than 50 years working in the television industry. Frank served as the Vice-President of sports programming at ABC Sports for six years, with him then joining IMG Media in 1970. He also had a similar role at CBS, where he worked as their Sports President. During his career Frank was credited with being instrumental in negotiating the television rights for major sports leagues in the United States, along with the rights for the Olympic Games.
In 2009 Frank was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, before receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports at the Sports Emmy Awards one year later. He was also awarded with the Olympic Order in Silver in 2011.
