Hassan Ghafourifard

From the early 1980s to 2012 Hassan Ghafourifard held multiple political roles in the Iranian parliament. Appointed as the Minister of Energy in August 1981, Ghafourifard became the President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1984, holding the post until 1986. From September 1989 to February 1994 Ghafourifard was also the head of Iran’s Physical Education Organization (PEO). He spent the latter part of his career representing a constituency in the metropolitan area of Tehran.
