South Korean businessman Jo Yang-Ho served as the chair and chief executive of Korean Air and the chair of the conglomerate Hanjin. Jo also served as the vice-chair of the Federation of Korean Industries and the chair of the Korea Defense Industry Association, and sat on the board of governors for the International Air Transport Association. From 2014 to 2016 he served as the President of the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Jo’s position of chairman of Korean Air came to an ignominious end after he was ousted from the board by the shareholders following an air rage incident that occurred in December 2014. During a flight from JFK Airport in New York, Jo’s daughter became dissatisfied in the manor that flight attendants served nuts onboard the plane, with her ordering that the plane must return to the gate before take-off.
