In the mid-1960s French cyclist Stéphan Abrahamian won several amateur races at home along with the points classification at the 1967 edition of the Milk Race in England. One year later Abrahamian became the French amateur road race champion, earning himself a place on the Olympic team. At the Mexico City Games he just missed out on a medal when he finished fourth in the road race.
