Biography

Four softball players have won four Olympic medals, and four players have won three Olympic gold medals, but Laura Berg is the only softballer to belong to both groups, making her the most decorated softball Olympian. Softball, which was featured only four times on the Olympic Program, has been dominated by the United States’ team, which won three gold medals (1996, 2000 and 2004) and one silver (2008). Berg played as a center fielder on all four teams. Berg also was on the victorious US teams that became world champions in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006, and won three gold medals at Pan-American Games (1999, 2003 and 2007).
