Rubén Camacho competed in the cycling road race at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. He was a six-time Mexican champion on the road. Camacho won a bronze medal in the team pursuit at the 1975 Pan American Games, and at the Central American and Caribbean Games, won a gold medal in the road team time trial in 1978, adding a bronze medal in the team pursuit that year. After retiring as a rider, Camacho worked as a coach at UAS.
