Biography

Born in Nusco, Italy, Gerardo Cavaliere grew up in Bella Vista, Buenos Aires, before spending the rest of his life in the province of San Juan in Argentina. Cavaliere competed in local cycling races where the roads were often made of gravel. In 1965 he rode in the Vuelta del Uruguay winning the 10th stage of the race.

In 1967 Cavaliere was part of Argentina’s cycling team that competed at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, finishing seventh in the road race. The following year he rode in the road race at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics but did not finish the course. He occasionally returned to Italy for specific cycling races but spent most of his career racing in San Juan.
