Biography

San Marino made its début at the Olympics at the 1960 Games in Roma with a delegation of nine athletes sent to compete. Domenico Cecchetti was one of four cyclists to represent the nation, with him competing in both the individual road race and the 100 kilometres team time trial. It was tough going in both events, with only Cecchetti’s compatriot Salvatore Palmucci finishing in either. Cecchetti also won the one-day race Circuito di Cesa in Italy in the same year as the Games.
