Description
The National Olympic Committee of San Marino was formed on 16 April 1959 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 25 May of the same year at the IOC session in Munich. San Marino has competed at 13 Olympic Games – those of 1960, and all those since 1968. It has competed at the Olympic Winter Games since 1976, missing only the editions of 1980 and 1998. The shooters from this tiny country have delivered the best results, with the top performances coming in 2012, when Alessandra Perilli was fourth in the women’s trap and in 1984, when Francesco Nanni was fifth in the small-bore (prone) rifle shooting.
