Biography

Prior to his gold medal in the team pursuit at the 1920 Olympics in Antwerpen, Ruggero Ferrario had won the first Coppa Bernocchi race in 1919, a one-day classical race still held today. Ferrario was more noted for his road racing ability, having won the Giro dell’Umbria in 1913. He turned professional after the 1920 Olympics, racing as a pro from 1921-28, but with little success.
