Biography

Bogusław Fornalczyk had a strong start to his cycling career, winning both the Polish national road race title and the Tour of Poland in 1958. The following year Fornalczyk won two stages of the Tour of Bulgaria, in addition to finishing 10th overall at the Peace Race. In 1960 he won another national title, this time in cyclo-cross, before finishing 11th in the individual road race at the Roma Olympics. Throughout the 1960s Fornalczyk won further stages at both the Tour of Poland and Bulgaria, in addition to further afield to win a stage of the Tour of Morocco in 1964 and the Milk Race in England in 1966. He was later honoured with the Golden Cross of Merit and the Order of the Banner of Work, 2nd class. Following his retirement from the sport he worked as a miner, with him being a graduate of the Mining Technical School in his younger days.
