Biography

Cyclist Rudolf Franz was a member of the East German track pursuit team that was eliminated in the qualifying round at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. He started his career on the road in 1959, participating in the Tour de GDR. A few years later he turned to track cycling and won four East German titles in the single pursuit, in 1961-62 and 1964, and in the team pursuit in 1965 with the SC Karl-Marx-Stadt team. Franz later married cyclist Andrea Elle.
