Czechoslovak cyclist Alois Holík bookended his career with wins at the Košice–Tatry–Košice race in Slovakia in 1969 and 1974. In the years in between Holík had a decent record in races across Europe, including winning in Scotland and France, in addition to riding in two editions of the Peace Race. In 1972 he was selected to ride in the road race at the München Olympics but did not finish the course.
