Biography

Spanish cyclist Nemesio Jiménez began his career by winning silver in the team time trial at the 1967 Mediterranean Games. The following year Jiménez rode in the same event at the Mexico City Olympics, where the Spanish team finished 12th. He then turned professional and recorded the biggest win of his career with victory on stage 11 at the 1969 Vuelta a España. Jiménez became a regular at the Grand Tours during the next few years, riding in seven editions of the Vuelta, four editions of the Tour de France, and having two starts at the Giro d’Italia. Despite his early promise, he did not have much success during his career, apart from a stage win at the Vuelta a La Rioja in 1974 and finishing third at the national road championships in 1970.
