Biography

Kenneth Røpke had a top international career as a junior. In 1982 he rode for the Danish pursuit team that was second at the Junior Worlds, while in 1983, they moved up to the top step of the podium, with Røpke also claiming a world silver in the kilometre time trial. But after the juniors he never again reached the podium in major international races, his best finish his 4th-place at the 1988 Olympics in the kilo. But in Denmark Røpke was the greatest kilometre sprinter of the late 80s and early 90s. He won the national championship in the kilo time trial from 1984-90, and again in 1993, with second-place finishes in 1991-92.
