Throughout the 1920s Slovenian cyclist Josip Šolar represented the Kolesarski Klub Ilirija in Ljubljana. In 1920 Šolar won a one-day race from Ljubljana to the town of Völkermarkt in southern Austria. One year later he finished third at the Yugoslavia national road race championships before winning the race in 1925. In 1928 Šolar finished 37th in the individual road race at the Amsterdam Olympics, 40 minutes behind the race winner.
