Dorit Ganster was a team member of the Austrian female national field hockey team at the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) Olympics. The team finished fifth out of six in the round-robin tournament. Domestically, Ganster played with HC Wien (Vienna).
Ganster later studied Japanese and lived and worked in Japan for several years as a translator with a real estate construction company. Back in Vienna since 1991, Ganster became a freelance translator, project manager, and consultant for Austrian and Japanese companies.
