Biography

A forward in the Cornwall team against Australia at the 1908 Olympics, E. J. Jones started his career at Plymouth before a move to Falmouth for the 1909-10 season. He won 18 Cornwall caps up to January 1911 when he played his final game against Devon. He was in the original XV to play Durham in the 1909 County Championship final but missed out on his chance to play. At the time of his selection for the 1908 Olympics, Jones was a member of the Royal Navy, stationed at Devonport, Plymouth. Born in Falmouth, he later returned to his hometown where he worked as a victualler and also operated the Grapes Inn.
