Biography

The son of an Isle of Man farmer, Daniel Lowey moved to England in the early part of the 20th century and joined the Liverpool City Police force. He pulled for them at the 1908 Olympics and was involved in the controversial match against the Americans who unsuccessfully objected to the Liverpool team’s footwear. Lowey and his teammates, representing the Great Britain second team, went on to win the silver medal.
